Candidates may apply as performers, theatre-makers, or directors seeking to develop and present an original project. The Six-Month Theatre Creation Course is delivered in partnership with professional theatre companies and industry practitioners, providing students with opportunities to develop work within a professional creative environment. Preference is given to applications that demonstrate originality, a clear methodology, feasibility, community or stakeholder engagement, relevant experience, and strong artistic potential.

Applicants must have successfully completed the HTS One-Year Acting Training Course, or hold a recognised tertiary qualification in Performing Arts (or a closely related discipline), or demonstrate substantial professional experience in the performing arts industry. This course is designed for students who already possess a strong foundation in performance training and theatre practice.

The practical and theoretical approach of this course includes:

• The role of the performer, creator, director, designer, and writer

• Dramaturgy

• Theatre-making methodologies

• Theatre aesthetics, styles, and dramatic territories

• The relationship between performance, space, and audience

• The use of technology in performance

• Directing actors

• Theatre production, management, and marketing

Project Proposal

As part of your application, please submit a brief project proposal outlining the theatre work you wish to develop during the course. The proposal should clearly communicate your artistic vision, creative approach, collaborators, timeline, and project feasibility. This information helps the selection panel assess the originality, scope, and potential of your proposed work.
